We jump straight into the verses and arguments. But honestly… the introduction of a book often tells us so much about the heart behind it. This letter is deeply personal and it also call 2 peter. This letter also look like an urgency call by the older aspostle, almost like someone who knows his time is coming close and on earth is short and wants the church to stay awake. Traditionally the letter is attributed to Simon Peter , the same fisherman from Galilee who followed Jesus Christ . The man who once denied Jesus… and later became a bold witness. By the time this letter is written, Peter appears older, seasoned by suffering, persecution, and long years of ministry. And that changes the tone of the whole book. There is no one who can escape the pain. We all experience different types of pain. Pain can be caused by the loss, failure, betrayal, sickness, financial problems, disappointment or internal personal problems and many others. Suffering causes us to question ourselves; If God is good, why did He allow this? When we experience the pain we feel like our lives are falling apart that, we have reached our end. We even questions God’s existence and start to have second doubts. The Bible does not ignore these questions. Instead, it answer them in a deep and honest way. As humans, we only endure hard times only when we are seeing the progress. We feel like we can survive our struggles only when there is a movement in a situation. However, when nothing seems to change or happen, when our prayers are not being answered and promises delayed, our faith is challenged. Waiting season is not about passing of time.
