Lamentations Chapter 5 – A Cry from the Dust: broken words from broken soul Sometimes you come to a chapter in the Bible and it don’t really feel like you’re reading old history or prophecy or holy stuff anymore—it just feels like someone is bleeding on the page. That’s what Lamentations chapter 5 is like, like the last breath of a people who already been crying out from the ground. And maybe it ain’t structured like a poem this time, maybe the lines don’t follow no fancy alphabet pattern like the other ones did, but maybe that’s the point, right? When you too torn up to make beauty, you just say it messy, say it raw. And that’s where we are now. One last prayer from a broken nation So, here we got Judah, God’s people, what used to be proud and blessed and chosen, now just ashes and empty streets and memories that hurt. The chapter starts almost like they don’t even know how to pray no more, they just begging: Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our...

Lamentations Chapter 4 – When Gold Lost Its Shine                                                                             hoto by  Ben White  on  Unsplash So, like, I was sittin' with this Bible again, open on my lap, tired and dusty and feelin’ like the air don’t move much in the room, and I started reading Lamentations chapter 4 and it just hit me, like heavy bricks fallin from the old roof of a broken temple somewhere. It ain't like the first time I read it, nah, this time it felt heavier like a truth I didn't wanna see but I gotta face it cause it screamin in my soul. Like how the gold become dim? That’s how the chapter starts. Just like that: “How is the gold become dim!” And I just sat there like yeah... yeah, I know what that feels like. See, sometimes the stuff th...

Lamentations Chapter 3 – A Cry, A Hope, and a Wrestle With Pain                                                                                       Photo by  Ben White  on  Unsplash okay so, this one chapter... oh wow, this is different , like wayy more personal, like you can feel the weight in every single line like the words too heavy with sorrow but also tiny shimmer of hope like a little candle when all lights go off. if you’ve ever felt abandoned or crushed or just absolutely broken up by life or loss or guilt or jus everything kinda piled up on you like bricks—then Lamentations chapter 3 gonna speak , like real speak, you know? so the chapter starts different from first two. it ain’t just a city cryin anymore or a people hurtin, now it’s “ I am...

Lamentations Chapter 2 – Tears Fallin’ Like Rain from Heaven Itself

Lamentations Chapter 2 – Tears Fallin’ Like Rain from Heaven Itself                                                                                   Photo by  Ben White  on  Unsplash So I was sittin here, right, and readin Lamentations again. Got to chapter 2, and man... this one hurt different. I mean, chapter 1 was already full of grief and sadness, like Jerusalem sittin there lonely like a widow, weepin and all—but chapter 2 it feels like the sky done cracked open and God's anger came pourin down like fire. It’s like, if chapter 1 was mourning, chapter 2 is wrath... fierce and direct. Right from the start, it hit me in the gut. “How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger.” That word— cloud —it’s like not the fluffy nice kind you lay u...

Now that city just sit there... like a widow cryin alone in corner, like everything she had been takin away fro...

The Book of Lamentations – A Cry from the Ashes

The Book of Lamentations – A Cry from the Ashes                                               Photo by Ben White on Unsplash Well, here we are again. Back in that dark corner of the Bible that nobody really like to go too often, you know. Some people try to skip past it or maybe just read it once and be done. It's not a cheerful book, not at all. Not like Psalms with it's joy and dancing and all the praise in the sunshine. No, Lamentations is different. It's quiet and painful and full of weeping, and it don't give you a happy ending tied up with ribbons. It's raw. It's ruins. It's grief. But still—it's beautiful too. In the way that broken things sometimes are. When you sit there and look at your own life falling to pieces, you can open Lamentations and suddenly you’re not alone. There’s a voice, crying in the ashes beside you. You feel like someone else been the...
