Maybe you know the feeling too—like you’re standing at this invisible doorway.  The Torah (תּוֹרָה) is the first five books of the Bible, also known as the Pentateuch (Greek for "five scrolls"). It is considered the most sacred part of the Hebrew Bible ( Tanakh ) and is traditionally attributed to Moses . The Torah serves as the foundation of Jewish law, history, and faith. The Five Books of the Torah: Genesis (Bereshit - בְּרֵאשִׁית) Meaning: "In the beginning" Content: Describes the creation of the world , Adam and Eve, the Great Flood , the Tower of Babel , and the patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob). It ends with Joseph’s rise to power in Egypt and the Israelites' settlement there. Exodus (Shemot - שְׁמוֹת) Meaning: "Names" Content: Tells the story of the Israelites' enslavement in Egypt , the birth and mission of Moses , the Ten Plagues , the Exodus from Egypt , the giving of the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai, and the construction of the Tabernacle .
